My Media
As an artist, I thrive on exploring various mediums, each offering a unique way to engage my creativity and express my vision. My artistic journey began at around ten years old, starting with graphite. Hours of sketching after school and during summer breaks became a cherished ritual. Drawing inspiration from the world around me, I aimed to infuse each piece with drama and emotion while experimenting with the material's potential.
Once I mastered the basics of graphite, I transitioned to pen and ink. This shift allowed me to maintain the emotional intensity of my work while demanding a more deliberate approach to each mark. To this day, I often return to pen and ink for its immediacy and the pure joy of its simplicity.
My quest for color led me to watercolor, a medium both challenging and liberating. The precision required to control watercolor contrasts with the beauty of surrendering to its unpredictable flow. This duality has deeply influenced my approach to sketching and character design, often inspired by real-life experiences and observations.
Digital art became my primary focus during college, a natural progression given my immersion in the digital age. I am captivated by its versatility and the way it allows me to build entire worlds for my characters. The precision and flexibility of digital media enable me to refine and rework my creations, transforming initial sketches into vivid illustrations.
Despite my exploration of various mediums, painting remains my artistic sanctuary. When I feel disconnected from a project, painting provides a grounding force. The tactile experience of a paintbrush on canvas offers therapeutic solace, and I firmly believe in the restorative power of this practice. When creativity becomes overwhelming, I find that music, headphones, and acrylic paint are the perfect antidote.
While I have developed proficiency in certain mediums, I am committed to an ever-evolving artistic journey. As both a student and a teacher, I embrace the idea that learning is a lifelong endeavor. I continually experiment with new art forms—be it printmaking, oil pastels, colored pencils, animation, embroidery, or sculpting—constantly seeking fresh ways to create visuals for myself and others to enjoy.
