Impressions of Innocence:

The Art of Growing Up

Artist Statement

Childhood is a time when creativity flourishes, unbound by rules or self-consciousness. In this series I explore the pure, joyful, and often messy ways children engage with art, capturing moments of discovery and self-expression. Through paintings of nostalgic moments like a game of cat's cradle or drawing no the walls, I aim to celebrate the simplicity and wonder of these formative experiences.

These works are a reflection of how art begins as a natural instinct, a language we all speak before growing older and more restrained. By revisiting these nostalgic snapshots, I hope to reconnect viewers with their own creative beginnings and remind them of the importance of play, experimentation, and pride in self-expression.

This series invites you to reflect on your own artistic journey and perhaps rediscover the childlike joy that first drew you to create.

This series will be on view this year 1/27-2/28 with a public reception on 2/3 from 4-6pm at the Adelphi Performing Arts Center 2nd floor rotunda.
